Passive House Design is an energy-efficient building standard that prioritizes comfort, durability, and performance while dramatically reducing energy required for heating and cooling. By relying on passive strategies rather than active systems, it creates healthy, high-quality indoor environments with consistent temperatures and fresh air.
Key elements include continuous insulation, airtight construction, high-performance windows, thermal bridge-free detailing, and balanced mechanical ventilation with heat recovery. Together, these strategies allow buildings to use up to 90% less energy for heating and cooling, and up to 75% less energy overall, compared to conventional construction.
While we enjoy designing and delivering certified Passive House projects, we also apply Passive House principles to a wide range of homes. These strategies help inform decisions around comfort, durability, and energy performance, and can be tailored to fit the goals, scope, and budget of each project.
